This Zoom party gathers us around our very own Haydee Britton (AFG’s Vice President) and her Congolese protégés, originally street kids, now fondly known as “Les petits okapis.” When working with the UN in Kinshasa, DRC, Haydee was shocked at seeing barefoot orphaned children sleeping in a car shed. She offered to subsidize their uniforms and supplies if they would go to school. Decades later, several have graduated college, found life-sustaining employment selling eggs, and themselves adopted a second generation of “little okapis.”
This presentation will be mostly in French, but the Q & A can be a joyful mixture of French and English!
